Such utter disrespect on Remembrance Day

So I was listening to 640AM on my way into the city today and the talk was about one of the speakers at a Remembrance Day ceremony somewhere in Toronto. I believe she was an official with the City but I didn’t hear in what capacity….

with all the members of the public and a number of veterans sitting there patiently waiting, she gave a 4 MINUTE SPEECH WITH AN INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. This on a day which is supposed to be ABOUT THE VETERANS. I was so @&$&@- infuriated that I had to turn it off !

between this constant focus on indigenous issues by government and media and the indoctrination of our kids going on in our public schools…..WHY ARE WE TOLERATING THIS ???

It's a never ending crap show.

These land acknowledgements are nothing more than woke politically correct garbage. It perpetuates the concept that Indians OWNED Canada before the white man came from Europe when,in fact,nothing could be more inaccurate. They happened to be people who,no doubt,were the first occupiers of territory without any concept of ownership. They were merely caught up in the relentless natural advancement of civilization which has occured since humans walked upright on this planet.

Well they are partners so there is that.

I thought this post was going to be about the Arab gaza song played in an ontario school for whatever they are pushing lol. Inequality and so so ons.

I was listening to another station and they were complaining city buses were stopping for 2mins for remembrance day, saying it will slow down Toronto traffic. I grew up in Europe, on remembrance day the entire country shut down and everyone, I mean everyone, went to see the parade. Tanks rolling down the street, para's jumping out of planes, jets doing fly-bys. Its shame that this has mostly been lost in the generation after me.

If those folks had ever tried to sleep in a wet trench in minus temperatures they would have more understanding.

Every Remembrance Day it seems there is a bout of recreational outrage. Don Cherry being fired for anti-immigrant ranting about poppies, arabic music played at a ceremony, store owners who don't welcome poppy sellers, land acknowledgements, it's always something or the other.

Freedom means people have the right to recognize Remembrance Day in the manner they choose. They should not be pressured to conform to your views or held up to public derision if they ignore the day, celebrate it in a different way, choose not to wear a poppy, etc.

Kind of yes-kind of no.
Why it is hard to respect Remembrance Day, for ones "not believing in it"?
Those are mostly the ones, they DEMAND respect for "their "day of celebration ,criticizing others for lack of respect ,or else.

Is it not a double standard?

Social life is not a one way street!
