Choke tube became loose

I have this beautiful OU 12 gage shotgun.
Carries like a champ,and shoots perfectly.

While cleaning the gun for winter storage,i noticed that the the choke tube used for shooting was finger loose in the muzzle of the barrel.
I am surprised with this-i think i tightened it well before shooting maybe 250 rounds thru it.

I use Birchwood Casey choke tube grease liberally(like it is for free)to prevent seizing the choke.
Is there such a thing as OVERGREASING?
Or...what else can be wrong?

nothing wrong. Just every time you shoot there is vibration in the barrel that will loosen a choke in time. I check mine at the start of every hunt.

Use a torque wrench and after shooting check with the torque wrench again
like they do in QC room ...

Thanx-good idea,but how you make a contact in the choke with the torque wrench ?Would it not need a choke wrench adapter or else....

Torquing choke tubes on any shotgun isn't necessary. Just snug them up and check them often. Take this from someone who knows from the ghastly experience of over tightening and getting it stuck in my favorite gun almost ruining it. Gunsmiths don't work cheap.

Choke tubes coming loose is quite common on many guns. I seat mine using Briley choke tube grease which seems a little tackier than Birchwood Casey and holds them in place a little better. I've found the older Beretta Mobile and Optima chokes to be very bad for loosening but the Optima Plus don't come loose as often.

Ya its a good habit to get into at the end of season loosen the choke and at the start of the hunt snug it up. Nothing worse than a seized choke due to lack of simple maintenance

I keep my tubes well greased as I know a guy that never grease his from new and when he went to remove it, it was ceased tight and never could get it out. I have extended tubes in my O/U that I use for trap shooting. the tubes come loose all the time i check them often while shooting and tighten them often as they do come loose after a couple boxes fired through them.
