Hungry sure am going on almost 3 years now. The last 2 years haven't had "safe" ice for me and this year was looking promising until the snow started. As a walker all this snow is a PITA looking like next week is a right off also. Hoping to get out eventually on Simcoe to get a feed of perch. May have to look for a young buck (or strong doe) to haul the gear out for this old man(ok not so "old" just should be in better shape.)
It's a beer batter. We deep fry in a deep pan with vegetable oil on the stove. When done oil gets filtered through cheesecloth and then frozen - can be used multiple times this way. You need a high temp thermometer to monitor the oil temp - needs to be between 350 and 375. Recipe:

I hear you. Normally take one of my sons and/or nephew along (all late 20s early 30s) and recently my son-in-law - all i have to do is load and unload the snowmobiles from the trailer and back the trailer into wherever we need to park (well and pay for most everything). They do everything else. Pack/unpack toboggans, drill holes, setup and take down etc.. - getting pretty easy for the old man.
Thanks for the recipe Joe....gonna give it a try
Looks great Joe, thanks for making me so hungry so early in the day
Looks yummy!
I always end up drinking the beer and end up using soda water.
