Winter still hanging on up north
I went out on Saturday for walleye and did a little exploring. It was a bright sunny day with almost no breeze and temps just below freezing. Despite the nice day, fishing was exceptionally poor. IMO, walleye go into a resting phase in late winter and fishing slows downs for a few weeks.
Winter came back on Sunday and Monday dropping another 6-8” of snow. We should have good sledding up to the season closure on the 15th.
Still a chance that the Rainy River opens up which will provide an open-water experience before the closure.
