Good Carp fishing locations within 100k of Toronto?

Good morning everyone,
New member here and first post on the board. :)

My grandfather wants to fish only and solely for carp.
He traditionally makes like a minced patty from it (taste pretty good with some horse-raddish hehe)

Can any of you kind folks recommend a location that is pretty plentiful in carp from a location that is edible...?
I was thinking in Trenton, I think the 401 exit was around like 540 or 500 but I haven't been down there in ages and can't remember.

Would kindly appreciate any suggestions as prompt as possible!

I have seen fishing shows on TV where they are fishing for carp on toronto island.

Not a carp fisher myself but since you're in a rush I'll try to help. Plenty of carp in and around Toronto, including at the Islands and Leslie Spit, but not sure you'd wanna eat one from there, carp accumulate a lot of PCBs and stuff. I like to refer to the MOE's Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish, which gives meals per month recommendations by location/species/size class. Toronto Harbour carp they say only eat one meal a month, and even that only if the fish is <22" and not if you're a kid or a woman of childbearing age. Any fish they recommend 8 meals per month for is as clean as you can get. From their tables it looks like there are good clean carp in Holland Marsh (the river and the canals), Eaton Hall Lake in King, Lake Scugog, and even Rouge Marsh and Oshawa Harbour if you stay away from the really big ones, plus probably a bunch more I didn't check. I was under the impression Toronto itself was a world class carp fishery. Ive seen more then one show with guys fishing around the city.

Definitely true, what comes down to a personal question is what you're willing to grind into a patty and eat. If you're only eating this on rare occasion and you're not serving children or pre-maternal women, then maybe you'd be comfortable just catching one in Toronto. If you'd rather take health precautions then a rural area is better.

The Grand River from Brantford to Lake Erie has good fishing for carp. The Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish says Carp up to 28" long can be eaten 8 times a month. A good spot on the Grand River to catch Carp is Byng Island Conservation area near Dunnville. Carp are generally congregating near tributaries. If you spot a river feeding into lake Ontario, chances are good there will be plenty of carp. Good luck!

When i used to live there (Toronto) my buddy and i would often spend the day there snagging HUGE carp. We bring a dozen tall boys and chunk of hash and get stoned out of our heads and snag carp. Those were the days..

The Holland Marsh area has some really good carp.

Little Lake, downtown Peterborough. Remember to groundbait with some breadcrumb/corn kernal balls...little and often until you see the lines of fizzy bubbles, then they're heads are down in it and its go time !!! Fish canned corn on the hook.
