I do all the time. I place them in the cooker, cut up an onion and a can of tomatoes and you're good to go!
In my opinion duck in a slow cooker seems like a waste as for me duck is best eaten rare to medium rare, slow cooker obviously takes that away. Only way I've ever eaten waterfowl in a slow cooker is goose breasts done like pulled pork and its awesome for something different once in a while
If you don't like the strong flavour of duck, you can soak it in milk prior to cooking. This draws the blood out of the meat.
Recipe #1
Cut breast meat into strips and place in oiled crock pot. Cover with your favourite BBQ sauce and cook on low 7 to 8 hours.
I usually have this cooking while I am out hunting or fishing for the day. Serve on crispy buns.
Recipe #2
Cube duck meat and place in crock pot. Add the following:
- One package of frozen asian vegetables.
- One package of dry onion soup with 2 cups of boiled water
- Canned corn or canned potatoes. ( Add more of more servings required)
- Garlic to taste and/or chopped onions
Cook on low all day and serve with wild rice.
(This recipe caln be used with any type of meat.)
Usually put 8-10 breasts in with pkg French onion soup mix,can of mushroom soup, can of mushrooms and 2 cups of CHEAP red wine.Cook 8 hrs. Pour over bed of rice.
I've been experimenting and I've found that duck in the slowcooker is best cooked on low for 6 hrs breast down then keep warm for another hr or so. It's been working very well for me that way.
