Bowfishing for Carp near Toronto?

Hello!

Does anyone know a good place near Toronto where a person can go bowfishing for carp?

Recommendations for camping spots near to a good carp fishing hole is also welcome. :)

I have had great success along the trent, north and south of Peterborough, by stopping at each lock or bridge and looking over the sides. Best when they are spawning.

Spring and early summer - Mid may to mid June I think - Its been almost 10 years since I have done it.

I am thinking about getting a new bowfishing reel. Any suggestions for brand and model type?

As far as a reel goes the AMS retriever is the best for the money. For bowfishing close to TO, Lake Scugog is the best place I've been that's "close".

Im just curious, what is the rules with disposing of these fish, they are invasive, so I really don't care... but is there a rule?

Dont get caught wasting fish.

Ive heard they are good fertilizer for gardens just burried under the soil.

You are right. Mid May in SWO for sure. On wallie opener they are stacked one on top of the other (and not just because they are humping). In spring 2012 when water levels were low, there were a lot of weeds and moss in the river and these cows were stirring it all up. Made it impossible to fish downstream of where they were spawning.
