Not sure but I think our Ontario eastern coyote r getting less than half of what western coyotes go for....so guessing $30 average....only guessing have not seen the auction results yet....should be out soon
Thats not what I meant Frati, the royalty is something trappers and hunters have to pay on the furs they keep/harvest. 4 years ago I had one tanned and I think I paid around a buck fifty($1.50). Some call it a Queens tax. The trappers have the royalty deducted from the furs they sell. I suspect most guys that are shooting them didnt know if they keep or sell the hides they have to pay the royalty, the trappers here would know for sure. I think the Taxidermists would know about them as well.
Not many coyote pelts sold so far, somewhere around 75% unsold..average about 56.90 USD, top was about 78.00 USD
royalty is 1 or 1.08 something like that IIRC.
Western always bring higher, less yellow in the belly among other things.
Just a clarification.........if you LAWFULLY take a coyote under your HUNTING license, you owe no royalty UNTIL/UNLESS you offer the skin or pelt for sale...GENERALLY.

At the time you obtain a license to send the hide to a tanner (ie Taxidermist) a royalty must be paid according to the Furbearing Mammals regulations on page 82, but there is some changes coming that Im not clear on see page 5
I hope someone can shed some light on this. probably should have posted this on the trapping forum.
The taxidermist I go to never asked or mention anything about Royalty. I keep all my hides to myself anyway.
I believe the crown sets the royalty at 3% of the previous year's average sales price.

Looks more like 5.5% of average sales price. Each province has its own rate. Coyote will be $2.00 this year.
