I have found a gamebird supplier willing to sell me Chukar and pheasant at a good price. I have private land I can use and am planning to do some training in the off season with my Brittany to keep her sharp. Is there anyone out there who has done this and could offer some advice? Is this even a good idea?

Now I have always done chukars (with the permit system) in the summer as the MNR technologist told me you weren't allowed to shoot pheasants out of season (and if you did do pheasants in season you were restricted to the WMU bag limits as you weren't on a game bird preserve). However, that was two years ago and the rules might have changed. The best bet is to contact your local MNR office and talk to the technologist there and get them to answer all your questions.

Make sure that the birds you get are able to fly well nothing is worse than poor flying birds when training or even hunting.
