I have a friend who has a valid 2014-2017 outdoor card with small game and H1 listed on card. He did pass firearms test, but his wife who is Hindu refuses to sign off his application for PAL.
My question is would he be legal to hunt with the following:
Air Gun under 500ft per second?
A borrowed gun to hunt with a second armed hunter? (not apprentice type situation, because he has H1 on Outdoor Card)

Yes,he can hunt with an air gun under 500fps,but,what will he hunt with it other than mice? It's too light. He may hunt with a companion who is licensed to hunt,have a valid PAL,but,there must be only one firearm between them. The companion must,also, be close enough to supervise. His best approach to the wife not "signing off" is to contact the RCMP and explain why she won't on religious grounds. There's many different reasons spouses/ex-spouses won't "sign off." The RCMP has likely heard them all,so,this will be nothing new. Usually,they'll contact the spouse and,if applicable,simply by-pass that step and issue the PAL.
He might want to get real proficient with archery equipment? Or the new wife route??
With archery equipment,he can hunt anything he wants to buy a license for. Not sure about the new wife route. Sometimes,it's cheaper to keep her and simply work around her.LOLQuote:

Phone the CFO, I'm sure there's options. He wouldn't be the first one to have their spouse refuse.
