New PAL - a couple of questions

A friend of mine just passed the hunting, firearms and turkey hunting tests. He would like to come turkey hunting with me this season. My questions are:
1) How long does it normally take to obtain a new PAL once you have passed the test?
2) I know that even if he doesn't receive his PAL in time, he can come hunting with me and use my gun as long as it is the only gun between the two of us and he is under my direct supervision. My question is, if I also have a crossbow with me, which I am using to hunt turkeys at the same time (from the same position as my friend), and he is using my shotgun, is this allowed? Is he still considered to be under my direct supervision? I know I could let him use my crossbow and I could use my shotgun, but I don't think this would be a good initiation for a new hunter.

The time to get a PAL in varies, keep in mind there is a 28 day wait period on new applicants, but the interviews etc can still take place. if you search PAL on here you will find various posts I have made on how to expedite the process.

As for part 2, in the scenario you describe, you have xbow he has gun, no I don't believe that is legal, but I can't be 100% sure, that being said, he can use the xbow no problem without a pal, and you the shotgun at the same time.

3 months to get your PAL is probably a good range to start in.

I would say "not legal" to #2. Hes not under your direct supervision if you're distracted with a bow.

Make sure he has his H1 license (would need to prove passing of Hunters Education Exam and CFSC) and tags.

As for PAL 3 months sounds about right.

My best Friend just completed his course on Sunday. He was told to expect at least 3 months, which seems to be the consensus here.

Yep I would also say about 3 months.

Well.. You got a month before the test results come back.. (Minimum).. Then at least 45,days for them to open the envelope at mirimcahi... Then about a month for them to approve it. Friend just went through it took a little over 3,months...
(Sent papers around September.. Received card in December)

If you sit idle, yes, about 3 months, you can send in the PAL application WITHOUT the results attached, add note saying they are coming. You can also phone in and start the interview processes during the wait times, so that at day 28 everything is done and it can go for processing.

Not when my buddy did it.. He would call in.. And would NOT TALK To HIM as His file was not in the system yet. (Takes 45 days) As soon as it showed on the web site they talked to him. He called at least twice a week.

It takes about a week to get on the website after the receive it, send it priority mail and they will have it in 2 days, and should be on the website 7 working days later.
