Much has been said about setting up a portable blind in the middle of a field and gobblers march right into your decoy spread as if the blind was not there.
Has anyone had this experience? They even go as far as to say that blind colour is not a factor at all?
I personally back up to a big ol tree but sitting on a nice comfy chair in a weather tight blind has my attention:D
For the first morning sit of the day - a blind is awesome. It lets you get away with a ton of movement, which keeps you comfortable and able to sit longer. It also makes it much easier to handle the weather. Even on a dry cool morning, just the wind blocking effect is a huge help in staying warm. I love my blind but don't bother with it when I am gona run and gun. Its an early morning or crapy weather tool.

Raining or out with new hunters, I like using the blind. Otherwise I hunt on the ground. ( just down from the blind to confuse the Toms!)
I'm setting up my portable blind tomorrow afternoon in preparation for Friday mornings hunt. I will not be repeating last years mistake and will securely tie it down to prevent winds from blowing it across the field...:(
Nothing worst than looking for your blind in the dark first thing opening morning! Did get a bird though!
I like the comforts of a chair, a Thermos of coffee, being able to stretch and a pee bucket nearby....:)

yep ive had birds walk within touching distance of my blind. like its not even there. they definitely keep an eye on it but if you are still they don't mind it
Its true, they will walk right up to it. In my experience, a decoy is more likely to cause a hang up then a blind is. Good luck.
