Pigeon Lake Houseboat

Hello Everyone,

I can only assume a good few of you great anglers fish the Kawartha's on a regular basis.

That being said I would love to gain some of your wisdom!!

Like another member of the forum I am going on my bachelor party on July 11-14 up to Pigeon on a house boat!

We are going to rent some kayaks as well but I was just curious if anyone had any success fishing right from the houseboat. Trolling, casting, ect?

If not we can take the kayaks and pitch the docks for panfish and weed beds for bass.

Also has anyone ever night fished pigeon? (like pickerel rig and worms) aka could we cast some worms and fish the bottom during the party hours at night?

No reason you can't catch bass right from the houseboat anywhere on the lake.
Head to the area out from Gannons Narrows and try for some walleye there.

I'll be house boating this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. This is a first for us too.

House boats are a lot of fun but beware of the cops because they will give the driver of boat a breathalizer if the boat is mobile.

Out of curiosity who did you all go with when renting your house boats, and what does the average rental costs? Seems like quite neat alternative to a cottage trip. Any websites I can check would be great.

Pigeon Lake has Egan and Happy Days houseboat rentals.

Any weed bed holds largemouth. Weed edges for walleyes. Drops and shoals for smallmouth. Panfish everywhere.

Can catch a muskie in all of the above.

Night fishing can be great for walleye. If you are docked near a weed bed (best is 6-10 ft of water) try using a bobber and live minnow. They are a number of bobbers available with lights. It is cool to watch your lighten up bobber swim around after a walleye grabs your minnow.
