Ellwood Epps has a used 20 guage 11-87 for $600. My son has 1 that he uses for everything from skeet to ducks to turkey. Has functioned well for him.
I have an sx3 12 and love it, what about a browning?
Browning silver is a good one also available in a youth woman's model.
Browning golds or the lighter Beretta 391. Or if money ain't an issue, Benelli Mintefeltro in 20 is amazing.
If you're up for a good used 20 ga auto - look for a Browning Auto-5 20 ga Magnum. My wife loves hers! I bought it for her for our 1st anniversary (1967). It has performed perfectly ever since.
Whatever you get, make sure she tries it out for fit first. A lot of the youth models are just a cut down stock. The grip is the same. Ran into that problem with my girlfriend's gun. She started with the SX3 compact model. The stock was short enough, but her small hands couldn't reach the trigger without riding the grip up high, which is bad form and makes for poor shooting and comfort.
Fitting a shotgun to a woman (properly) is no easy task.
Thanks everyone. We ended up coming home with the Franchi. Just busted a few clays off the decks. She says she's in love with it. Super light gun kicks a bit but still manageable. Put two boxes of light 7/8 oz shells through it so far. Looks nice dressed in max4 camo 7 year mech warranty on it too. Hoping this is the push she needs to really get into waterfowling this year.
Excellent! Youre a lucky man!
You said it kicks a bit? In what way? Cheek slap?
