Out for the long weekend

My son and I and my best friend got out this long weekend.

Arrived at Bissett Creek around 5:30 PM Friday only to find someone camping at our spot that we created 8 years ago. Well we knew of a very old over grown road on the other side so decided it was time to create a new Wilderness camping opportunity and open a new site. ;) We squeezed our trucks down the old road how to cut a few fallen trees and trim the branches (luckily we had done some last year but never finished). Got our trucks in and 2 chainsaw going cleared up the windfalls trim a few branches and voila we have site number 2. This one seeing as you need to scratch up you truck's pretty bad to get un probably won't be visited as often. we had our table and tent and equipment up all in 1.5 hrs. Not bad for a couple of middle age guy's.

Friday night didn't have much time after setting up camp so we just did a quick canoes around the lake Logan caught a small Bass.

Saturday the 3 of us went out to shoot a few rounds out of the SKS, some skeet and sight in one of my rifles.

Oh forgot to mention Friday night busted the shock on the truck. So after shooting Saturday we slowly made our way out to my buddy's house to drop off the gun's and make a quick trip to Canadian Tire get a new shock thank goodness their easy to install on my truck.

All and all a great weekend and Logan's last for the year as School starts in the Sept.

Logan was also out camping on our week long trip to Sturgeon Falls area (Goose Falls), Capreole and Espanola. Still waiting for the pics from Tim for that trip.

Nice campsite! What is in the 3rd picture in the first post?

That is a door from probably 40 years ago gauging from the size of the tree. Probably from the last campers. There are remains of old log walls all around. Probably from either an old logging or hunting camp.

Will add a table made of logs another day and frame for a tarp, havent decided if were going to continue using this Lake. Since we opened the area several years ago the Lake has seen increasing pressure. We have been told of one large group taking as many as 250 fish for a feed in a single day. That is about the max this lake can probably safely handle leaving nothing for anyone else. We partialy regret have opened all the roads. We no longer maintain the roads we just remove enough to scrape our trucks by. This new spot on the same lake is difficult to get in and we will leave it like that.

Our first misake was making everything so accessible, we have a few other lakes we go to and we will definitely never make them as accessible. Sometimes when we leave we put the dead falls back if we can.
