Anyone used Lauzon Aviation?

Hey all,

I am looking at doing a fly-in fishing trip for my dad's 60th birthday next year as it is something he has always wanted to do.

I came across Lauzon Aviations (out of Blind River) and it seems like a cost effective way to do it. It seems fairly no frills but that's the way we want it....just fly us into a lake, drop us off at a small shack and pick us up in a couple days; we don't need some fancy place where people cook, clean, wipe our A** etc. for us

Jben did an awesome write up and gave me some helpful insight but curious if anyone else has gone with them before?

Would love to hear feedback/tips/whatever

I have used them. Loved it.... we are the same we enjoy just being out and fishing. No need to babysit us. We fished Robb lake. caught a lot of rainbows and lake trout, and the odd specks. They are a good choice to go with. You should also look into Canadian airventures, and Sudbury aviation. I have been with all 3 and they were all great in their own way. If I was to go with one of the 3 right now I would choose airventures. Great boats, clean cabins, warm showers and even though you share the area with the main lodge and a couple of their cabins nobody bugs you unless you ask for help... Fishing there was best of the 3 for us. All the walleye and pike you can catch and now good numbers of smallmouth. Whichever you choose you will have a great time!! Have fun. I flew with Lauzon 3 times in the early 2000's. The first time was with another outfitter who chartered Lauzon to fly us to his camp and the second 2 trips were with Lauzon directly to their Blue Lake camp (Kirkpatrick Lake). We fished for rainbow and lake trout and had a very good time with them.

I used Lauzon off of Marquette Lake on 144. Awesome. Sudbury Aviation is fantastic also.
I think Lauzon is a smaller outfit. Making that he has some wicked remote lakes. I recommend it Lauzon
any day!

Now I have heard good things about the Outpost Lakes experiences. To be fair. And our trip was many years ago and think the older gentlemen (Rene) that ran it then may have passed on by now.

And he did have a son and some daughters taking it over that may have a whole new look now.

Then-
Now we did the base camp/Mountain Lodge on Haste Lake. And they have been on Fishing Canada a couple of times. Our trip-Terrible! But again this was 20 years ago.

-Fly in rates but you are in the air for 1 minute.We knew we were in trouble when the second group could hear the plane reving up to get us 5 min after they left with the first group.They are right over the hill from hwy 17.The camp kid was canoeing down the lake at the end of the day.So we asked where he was going..."Oh my bike is at the trail at the end of the lake so I go home to town every night".....

-Bad food.100$ a head a day for food and it was boiled weiners and crap like that.

-Very little hot water.One small water heater tank so thay ask you to bathe in the sauna all the time.

-crap boats and motors.Taking one four horse back and forth in the plane from there and the main camp on Louzon Lake at the highway when people wanted it because they didn't own enough.

-they get on the radio every morning and talk back and forth like they are in different towns.So we said "hey we knew they are right over that hill we could hear you take off"....They make the flight a big circle just so it last a few minutes so you think you are further away.Since the gang pays 100's per head for fly in rates and the kid from town goes home at night.....

-Good bass fishing.But it was a cold front....10 degrees and raining every day in August.

-they said lake trout fishing.Because they had stocked the lake .....once.

-they said brook trout fishing.They had stocked a pond .....once.

-they said walleye fishing.Because they had stocked a beaver pond....once. All stocking years before but hadn't taken it off the pamplet. I asked if anyone had ever caught a laker, spec,walleye since they had bought the place....Silence....

-they ran out of food and asked us if we wanted breakfast our last morning...Ah YES!So he baked some tea biscuits...that was it.

-The son pretty much told us his dad was whacked with all the trout and walleye talk on the SHORT ride in."It's just a bass lake"...

-Rene had a few drinks one night and told us there was only one deer living there the winter before.And the wolves killed it on the ice.Then later he forgot he told me that and asked why I didn't bring up a big gang hunting...."You told me there was one deer and the wolves killed it".....Silence again.

-We kept asking about the back lakes.And he kept saying "oh experience this lake this time".....last time!

-They wondered why we didn't bring in bass for supper to cook when it was an "American Plan"....."no we will eat your hot dogs thanks"

Stuff like that.

Like I said a long time ago and may be way better now and new or different owners. And even then the remote people had good things to say.

Not us at the Mountain Lodge on Haste Lake though.If you like bass and go over the details I mentioned you may have a good time though. We caught some big smallies before the cold front hit.

I'm currently working directly with over 80 outfitters and can certainly offer you some excellent options for your fly in trip next year. Can say with certainty I can procure a pretty substantial discount as well.

Check Hears Air, much more to drive but they have good rates and lots of lakes with cabin to choose from.
i went moose hunting with them and fishing was great in the meantime...

Just got back from our trip to Robb Lake ... what a great time! Lots of Lakers and a few Rainbows.
