Cleaning outboard lower unit

Hello all,

Well time to put her away for another season:sad:. Up until this year i have been keeping my boat in dry dock. This summer i was able to get a spot in the water and with that comes the usual build up of scum and water stains and was wondering what some of you use in a spray, scrub and wash format that does a good job. Its a white evinrude so the stains really show. I have heard that CLR would work but was wondering if there is any specialized spray cleaner out there(that doesnt eat paint) for an aluminum hull and lower unit.

Check out a product called power1one. http://www.atinsco.com/products.htm. I've heard good things about it.

Around home for heavier cleaning I use a product called Mean Green from home hardware. Pretty strong stuff that you can mix as desired. Might be all you need.

marinas sell a acid product, forget the name... but it does a great job on cleaning the boat... wet your boat 1st, apply the product with a scrub brush etc. let sit for a minute or 2 then go back over and scrub it again... works great

Powerone is pretty good. Napa here sells it. Mean Green and Slimy Grimy are decent products. I personally use a commercial acid based hull wash.

Starbrite Hull cleaner is what the marinas around here use. Spray on, brush and rinse off. Works great, and is easy to buy.
