I bought a bushmaster scope at Canadian Tire for $100 on sale at 50% off and tried it at the range on the weekend but wasn't happy with it at all. Anybody have one that they are happy with to see holes at 200 yards on paper? I'm using a 22-250 so the holes are harder to see. I saw some like the Bushnell XLT trophy so I might check that out.

you get what you pay for with the C T models not worth the box thy are put in to .try a few models out at you local store and see what fits your needs .I find most guys over scope them self way to high power that thy donot really need .hard to get a picture if you are on to high power and cannot hold it still .D
Kowa makes good spotting scopes. They are expensive as are any worth having. Stay away from the straight thru type and go with the angled style, they're more versatile in different shooting positions. Removable eyepieces are a plus(you can change out different magnification ie 20-40, 20- 60 etc.
I use a cheap spotting scope out to 200 yds and it works ..OK...Yes I could spend more but...
I found that if I spend a little more on my target panels and it allows me to see the hits clearly. These 'visual' hit type panels are good out to 200 with almost any scope.

Good tip. I did buy some of these targets. Even with them I couldn't see the holes at 200 yards. At 100 yards I could see the holes with my rifle scope. I use these targets when I'm shooting my pistols at 25 yards.

There's not much other choice. I use a 100mm Konus. it's a decent spotting scope but not perfect for bullet holes(too much mirage)
I use an older Bushnell, I think it is a Spacemaster. I bought it used for $50 including the tripod and a padded carry bag. It goes from something like 15X to 60x. I can see .257 holes out to 300 yards, but it starts to get dark at the highest magnification. I don't know how well it would work for target shooting at distances much beyond 300 yards. The newer version of this scope is proabably better.
I'd suggest looking for something used if you don't want to spend a lot of money - you will be happier with a better quality used spotting scope than a new low quality unit.
