It is rare but I've done it before, really strange to see your float go down and then land a pike that hit a small roe bag. Got 1 on a flatfish as well but those were both a long time ago. Yours is chunkier than the ones I got. Nice fish.
That's Hab's fish. I took the pic. He was actually throwing a small spoon, I was drifting roe. I'd have been even more shocked if it hit a roe bag, but not totally.
Nice fat pike. I admit I saw the thread name and thought you meant bow fishing as in shooting carp with an arrow, and clicked it thinking "god I hope he just meant SEEING a pike while bow fishing and maybe casting to it..."
That was a bit of a surprise fishing bows, although not necessarily on the technique I was employing. Not a bad fight on light steelhead gear, it's actually a bit bigger than I remembered.
Question is: Does it count as big fish of the day? (it was :))
On for sunday Pondo
It counts as the big fish, and so does your poo eating grin.
SUNDAY IS FUNDAY!
A buddy pulled a 48" Muskie outta the geen while float fishing for steelhead...I don't think its that big of a rarity guess it depends on the trib..
I get the odd pike and muskie fishing the Niagara for trout. Not generally on roe, but I've seen it happen.
