Hi everyone, I finally got my ATV. Looking to buy a set of chains for the tires but I cant seem to find the size I need anywhere. Has anyone ever tried getting a set of chains and removing a link or 2 so you can get them to fit.

I am sorry I have never had any for an atv, But for my cars and pickups out west, I did and have and could adjust by taking a link or two out. I would think they would be the same. maybe some one more knowledgeable will chime in. All the best Don
That's what I had to do to make them fit. Also, to make them tight, deflate your tires a little maybe 3 or 4 psi and install the chains to fit snug. Then reinflate to correct pressure and they'll be more snug and limit the slack when you ride it.They work awesome. If you remove them for summer, deflate and remove. I only use my ATV for ice fishing so I no longer remove them. I have mine on the rear wheels only, and have never been stuck.
Have you looked at royal distributing for your chains?
That was the first place I checked, Polaris puts on a crazy size tire.
Have you tried studs? They are cheap, don't affect top speed and don't have the dangerous risk of a chain coming off and tearing your cv boots, plastics off. I found them to be cheaper and better than chains. Easy in and out removal.

If you have an auto parts extra anywhere close by they would be able to source them for you. I'm curious as to the tire size on your machine. Are you not sitting on stock 25"
I have two sets (front and rear)on my tractor that I have made from scratch as well as a set for the rear of my ATV. This way I could make the side chains longer on the outside to avoid my steering linkage, fender supports etc.
Just remember once you have put the chains on, your tires get tall and skinny at higher speeds, I watched a buddy pretty much shred his fenders trying to go too fast across the lake.
You can take links out no problem. It doesn't matter at all if a cross chain is closer than the others. In fact its better to fit the chains with no spare links in them, they always rattle around. Mine fit like a glove never any slippage. Also fitting them precisely stops the cross chain from spinning, putting the teeth against your rubber.
