I use a take down ramrod with all of my custom smokeless muzzleloaders, I didn't build them with a ramrod slot in the stock I preferred to have nothing hanging off of the barrel that might affect accuracy.
Initially I used a 3 piece 12ga shotgun cleaning rod with a modified jag to fit my barrel , but now I use a folding 3 piece rod that is held together with an elastic shock cord. I works pretty slick and fits into a slender pouch that fits on my belt. The 3 piece rod I made out of some old aluminum and carbon arrows I had laying around.
The outter rod is from a 2219 XX75 shaft and the inner carbon rod is from a Gold Tip 5575. the carbon fits inside of the 2219 nicely and is laid out so that there is an over lap that enables the shafts to fit together. Once the desired length is determined the shafts are cut and assembled and glued with epoxy, the shock cord is threaded thru the hollow part of the shaft and attached to the 5575 bushing at each end. I used two aluminum broadhead adapters connect to the bushings, one is the jag end and the opposite end used a disc to act as a palm saver.
