I like the idea of a 'pusher' ...In the bush I hunt, it would work well to have a guy walking north and moving the deer. We do it with the dogs during the rilfe week, but I think they push them to fast and the deer take a more direct route to escape. A slow moving pusher would work better.
Best deer dog I ever hunted with was a black & tan which never moved faster than a slow trot. He was quite vocal & the deer were quite happy to just keep ahead of him. They didn't feel the need to take off at full speed.
Generally a deadly mistake on their part.
We ran redbones for a few years...man they could run...the camp about 4 miles from here use to shoot very tired deer with one of our Redbone hanging off his heels. The poor deer never turned..
Nothing beats a beagle /bassett hound cross. Noisy and slow. The deer spend more time, looking back, to see where the dog is. than they do running.:thumbup:
