The New Wheels Arrived - Burlygirl, Did You Think I Forgot?

The new work wheels rolled off the truck yesterday, a step down from the AWD R/T Journeys we've been running for the past 4 years, but there isn't much room to complain when gas, insurance, tires, repairs, etc, aren't coming out of your pocket, so I smile and say thank you!

Another new Ford in the driveway, 2015 Escape SE 2.0L EcoBoost. Not much for options, comes standard with backup camera, heated seats, keyless entry, 10 way power adjust seats, Bluetooth, Microsoft Sync voice control and satellite radio.

Had my choice between this or a Rav, Toyota doesn't seem to give you any "standard option" goodies like the ford does, and the escape had more ground clearance, and higher towing capacity, everything you look for in a company vehicle to get you form hospital to hospital :ninja:

Only thing I wish it had, was factory roof rails so I could put my racks on for the duck boat, have to buy a kit now. And a new hitch. (Anyone looking for a trailer hit for a journey? fits 09-15, and only installed 6 months, curt)

Of course I had to accessorize it, can't have it be like every other escape out there. Burly, did you think I forgot about the little present you sent me? :) didn't want it to go to waste on a vehicle that was going back.

I got one of them Toyota hatchbacks you are bad mouthing :P

Just so you know there is enough room to fit a deer in a hatchback.

Nice looking ride, even though it is a Ford :)

What is the inside like in the back? I know the Escape got a lot smaller from its original, similar to what Toyota did with the Rav4 and Jeep did with the Cherokee.

lol I wasn't bad mouthing it at all :) but for the work model we can select (base that has AWD) there is nothing in it for options, the Ford base that comes with AWD is the SE, and comes standard with some comfort options :)

It is considerably smaller back there then it use to be, and quite a bit smaller than the Journey, which is why we bought the F150 as well, hard pressed to get 2 kids, the wife, and the dog and luggage in there like we could with the Journey.

The seats fold flat so that ups the cargo room when I'm gone hunting with it, but theres enough leg room for the kids and their car seats, I wouldn't want to be on a long trip with 4 adults.

I still need to get a hitch for mine, if I can pull 1500lbs why not use it for those longer trips.

I am sure you will be happy with it, especially as a work vehicle.

You should check out Burlygirls new wheels , a Subaru Forrester ,it has lots of room inside so she can get two dog crates in side by side plus all her gear plus it came with roof racks for her canoe and AWD.

Just a couple of weeks ago it was on National TV as rated number 1 mid sized SUV.

Had an escape for a while for work. Nice ride. The gas mileage can be deceiving. If you push it to much you will really notice as that 4cyl works hard. I also noticed with four adults and some cargo the gas gauge fell faster. Might happen when you are towing. When I did try I got good mileage.

Yes she was telling me all about it, and quite happy with it! We actually had that on our selector as well, but wasn't an option for me as no Subaru dealership here :(

I had one for a rental while in Ottawa a few weeks ago, set the cruise at 120 heading to Cornwall and the thing was screaming, the RPM's were around 25,000 and I could watch the fuel gauge go down.

Enjoy the new wheels! I'm glad to see your labrador "Got Birds?" decal is on the backside for all to see ;) The lab taxi should be fun! Let me know how Maddy likes her new ride ("The yellow labrador hair in the work vehicle, sir? Why boss, it came like that!")

lol he's well aware of what the vehicles are used for :) when asked how much room was in the journey compared to the escape, I said "we'll, there's no way I can get 4 55 gallon bear bait drums in the escape" there was silence for a moment then he went "lalalalalalalalala I didn't hear that"

Ha ha, back in the day when all the loggers were given company trucks spruce falls had to employ a company policy to not have moose rifles loaded in the trucks (before provincial mandates) because too many transmissions were hit. My grandpa never saw a moose on his drives to the camp but my grandma could have shot a moose every year just dropping him off.
