MNR hello....is anyone home.

So what does it take to actually speak to a person that has a clue at the MNR without being past around from voice mail to voice mail with no call backs. I'm going on week number 2 of trying to speak to someone about obtaining a permit to use some birds to train my dog. All I want is to buy a few birds to train my dog. I'm not asking for much.....just a piece of paper that will let me put out a few birds so my dog can find them. This is insane. I call the Vineland Office. Please push 1 for this 2 for that......3&4. Well non of these options work. Then it tells me " sorry your having trouble please call back lol. What a friggin joke. I tried to obey the rules but I'm sorry this is a joke. I need a few quail for my dog because I'm running a trail in a few weeks in MI and quail are being used. Don't need chukar, don't need pigeons or pheasant just quail that will fly. Anyone selling please pm me. The big sellers of quail don't sell without permit.

I never had much issue to talk to someone that knows is stuff. I even got CO's to call me.

My local MNR office is a 3 hour round trip drive. Will it be worth the drive to have someone tell me to go to a different office.....I don't think so.

I tried to do this with the office in Guelph. I was told at information I needed to book an appointment. See little brit's explanation of what usually comes next.

Could you perhaps phone a game preserve and try to work something out for training? You would do the training but buy the birds off him? I am just thinking outside the box.

I hear you. To be honest, I gave up getting a permit and take my chances.

You can't release bobwhite at all in Ontario unless at a game farm. You could go to a game farm for practice.
Conturix quail are not a natural bird here so can be released with no problem. ( pretty sure).

The CO is the only one dealing with these permits at the Office. As he is usually out in the bush/woods etc , it is very hard to talk to someone.

Which trial are you going to? I'll be at Gladwin April 10-11 so maybe we'll get to say hello. :)

I have an option to do that already but it's an hour away. I have my neighbours place to train on which is pretty much a game farm I just need birds and it's a lot closer.
