My Season in a Nutshell
Well, has been a hard go this spring, and sad to say my turkey hunt is up for spring 2015.
- Opening day, had two gobblers going, closed them in to about 75 yard, and with a couple hens pop out on the other side of the field, they found them more attractive than my lush of a decoy.
- Second day out, I seen a squirrel. Yep, that's it.
- Third day, three hens and nice size tom, catch is, they were a Nebraska corn field away, and I don't even think they heard me.
- Fourth day, I seen TWO squirrels, AND a raven. Lucky me.
- This morning, yep last day I figure I'm going to get, I'm there early, I mean real early, today is my day, I call, their roosted and clucking away. Daylight breaks and they hit the field and tom is excited and on a string, he's not big, but he'll do. Him and a small jake turn in to the hardwoods and play hide seek for about 20 mins. but their closing the gap to within bow range, just a few more yards and all I have to do is pick my shot between a couple maples. And then it happened - BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, and the pager goes off, and off to work I go.
Bye Tom, you win, but I'll see you next year
Yours truly, Cumminsdsl :silly:

That's a tough season you had. Hope ya git lucky and are able to get at least another hunt in. Any time in the field is well worth it in my opinion.
