Waterfowl Hunting Near Wind Turbines

The neighbouring property is having a wind turbine erected approx 250-275 yds away from my goose blind on my property. It's essentially smack dab right in on a main flight path between a pond and my field. Needless to say my heart sank but I haven't written this season off. I have no experience hunting anywhere near turbines.

Just wondering if anyone hunts waterfowl near wind turbines, or has had turbines erected near their honey holes and how did it affect birds in your area? I've read a number of studies that contradict each other so I'm hoping to hear personal first hand experience. Thanks.

Approx how far away do you set up from the turbines?

We scout and hunt the X weekly so I have set up in multiple fields that have had a wind turbine in them. The birds will fly below the blades but do navigate around them as best as possible. I have been set up as close as couple hundred meters away however we were down wind of this unit with birds coming off the lake. Canada's are a very adaptive bird I trust you will not have any issues.

We hunted near some last year for the first time and there seemed to be no effect other than if the wind was in the right direction they would come in from the side more on their approach to avoid actually going through the turbine. Closest we hunted was maybe 200 yards.

they don't seem to hurt the shooting but I kid you not the swooshing sound and the damn things spinning give me motion sickness. On a side bar the monthly hydro bill also makes me ill.

I hunt near Strathroy in fields surrounded by turbines, birds dont seem to mind.
