Gardening
This has been a terrible month for gardening where I live. Several record breaking low temps - bring the plants in. Several weeks of record breaking highs- take the plants out. Dribbles of rain - water again.
Farmers and sod growers in desperate need of a good rain.
Was out in the bush/woods to day and clear that bushes etc are suffering / new leaves browning .
( Came upon some huge hog weed plants though.)

Better here.
Steady rain two weeks ago got things greening nicely.
100% garden planted this weekend-- even tender things like honeydews. Good weather forecasted for the next week.

Still a mixed bag here, humid and rain over the last 24hrs with more rain coming through the week, yet 4-5 days ago we had -4c and snow flurries. Was hoping the cold flash would kill off some of the "black flies"…but no luck, still losing a pint or 2 of blood daily. My 2 honey bee hives(nucs) are ready in 2 weeks so I'm hoping for the warmth and lots of blossoms in the gardens and surrounding bush.

I have had most of the garden in since the beginning of may. Tomatoes, peas ,lettuce
Beans and corn are all pretty hardy plants and will tolerate the cold.
Was picking radishes yesterday already the patch should be finished up in a few days.
I agree thought that we have not seen alot of rain . So alot watering has been done by hand.
Just planted a Carolina reaper pepper yesterday the worlds hottest peppers. Can't wiat to try them out. 2 peppers will make 2 litres of hot sauce. Also put in some more lettuce and my cucumbers in yesterday. Still have lots to plant as the weather is finally here lol . Eggplant, squash, more peppers are all next. Along with the rest of the herbs . Dill and rosemary have been it the ground for weeks also already.

I have roofers coming this week to put on a new roof so will not plant until they have finished and cleaned up. The only gardening I put in now is cherry tomatoes and some herbs. The wife has a few baskets up but flowers are this weekend. We have brought in the baskets twice now because of low night temps.

I planted some things in pots, no time to finish up working up the garden and since we just had a killing frost I feel ok about that.
If we keep getting normal rain I will be putting the garden in the first weekend in June, a little late but we need rain or I will not even bother.

Yep, since I planted some tomatoes (in pots luckily) about 2 weeks ago I've had to bring them in twice due to frost warnings. Should be good to go now.

I put mine the in the ground a couple of weeks back - I've had to cover the planter twice with sheets. I haven't lost anything to frost luckily, and have a good head start. I started all of my plants from seeds in March, so I'm guessing the strong root system helped them through the cold.
