Are there more ducks around this year than usual? I've personally been seeing way more ducks flying around than past years (Durham region).
Is it just me? Or is the population finally going in the right direction! ?!

Don't know about ducks but the geese sure seem thick this year
Mallard numbers here seem normal ... lots of little mallard puff balls swimming around here the last week or so, and good numbers per clutch. I have noticed a number of diver species still here that are normally gone way up north by now ... lots of squaws in Lake Ontario, as well as scoters and even some greater bluebills spotted this week on the Bay of Quinte while fishing ... could be the late spring and cool weather recently has kept them from going north as quickly.
I hope your right, but will let you know in the fall ;)
Saw two buffleheads on the pond yesterday! Figured they wer long gone by now. Nice to see them still around
Always see ducks everywhere in the spring time!
I'm going to have to agree with you, at least it appears that way. We have seen WAY more geese on properties I do goose control for, I've oiled twice as many eggs on them as last year. last year at my farm we had our first nesting pair of geese that had a successful clutch of 6, now we have 9 juvenile geese and the same nesting pair with a successful clutch of 8. The mallards on the canal in front of my house are doing even better... Last year we had 3 nesting pairs with 1 successful clutch of 8, So far this year I've found 2 nesting pairs both with successful clutches of 9 and 10 and now I have about 12 drakes camped out with them. I was worried that I might have over hunted the farm due to the early freeze up last season, but with all the new life it makes me even more excited for the coming season.
I agree with others. Seems to be a lot of ducks this year. I was walking the river by my house today and seen at least 50 ducklings swimming about. Even a pair of wood ducks. I just bought a new waterfowl gun, Can't wait for this season.
I seen a ton of woodducks every morning well turkey hunting this spring ,almost every bush we hunted had wood ducks flying at first light hitting the corn field ,,Dutch
