Attempted Break In

The other day I had an attempted break in at my house in the middle of the afternoon while I was at work. What scared who ever off was my dog. I have a feeling they were targeting my firearms which are under lock and key. I have nothing worth steeling other than guns and hunting gear. I have to wonder if this is someone close to me shooting there mouth off or possibly neibours watching me come and go on weekends during hunting season and other times just plane target shooting at my dads farm. It sucks living in town because it feels like I have eyes watching me when I come and go with my guns. I'm getting a security alarm installed this upcoming week which will help me sleep easier at night. Just wondering what you guys do to protect your homes and guns from invasion??

I don't think that you were specifically targeted. They hit a whole bunch of houses in Westover last week. Just dirtballs targeting the area in general. Lock your cars, trucks and outbuildings. I would love to come home to someone cleaning out my house. They will "trip and fall" down the back stairs when trying to run away from me. Might even fall down the stairs more than once.

I have a monitored alarm at my house (ADT) with a complete system for burglary and fire consisting of smoke and motion detectors on each level,all doors and windows with glass-break monitors. I found it was more cost-effective to buy my own system and have it installed (included in price) and pay ADT $29/mo+HST for 24/7 monitoring. We can arm only the exterior or Mrs.T likes to arm the entire system if I happen to be away overnight. Piece of mind means a lot,especially for shift workers and empty nesters who are away a lot.

My cousin and her husband were broken into close to where you live about a month ago, farmer drove by with a load of manure and noticed a strange car in the driveway came back later and it was still there so he got in his car and by the time he came back they were just pulling out he gave chase but not worth killing some one over some household items so he gave up. Quick question do you have any stickers on your vehicle that suggest owning or being involved with guns, I took mine off my car but still amazes me how many people have them on their vehicles see the buckmark from browning on tons of trucks and cars but half the people that have them have no idea what it stands for, amusing to say the least. I make sure when I take anything out of my car that no one is walking by or driving by.

I'm also one for this move. Most times it's not leaving in the dark that's the problem. It's coming home during daylight hours dressed in camo and trying to unpack my gear. We aren't too far from a school so I'm always careful there's no little peering eyes around.

I work in the industry and typically crooks will not touch the firearms, it brings to much attention to them by police. So long as they steal house hold goods they don't get any attention from authorities.

With our Canadian laws, falling down your steps (accidentally or not) "Trying to escape" would probably gives you a law suit.... so if they "slip and fall" make sure its a good one. Scum bags...

90% of all B&E's are usually crimes of opportunity by little pukes/stoners that live in fear of being caught by the Police and dread even worse,by an armed,irrate homeowner. They particularily avoid homes with alarm systems,dogs,outdoor lights on motion detectors and nosey neighbors.

Sounds to me like your DOG worked . Just like mine did . ;-) extra treat bone for sure ..
