I just got my Antlerless tag and I started thinking of my tree stands and blinds.
I wanted to know when you guys put them out. Do you wait a bit longer? , are they out already?

I just got my Antlerless tag and I started thinking of my tree stands and blinds.
I wanted to know when you guys put them out. Do you wait a bit longer? , are they out already?
It's never too early to put up a stand....Lots of guys leave them out all year.... It's probably best to put them out the earliest you can (know where you want them to go-did your scouting) so the deer can get used to them and the area you just cut up (shooting lanes etc..)
with that being said, I wouldn't be afraid (if I found a better spot) to put up a stand in the morning and hunt it that evening.... it's all about location,location, location/travel routes.... :)
On private land I put stands up in the spring since I don't have to worry about then getting stolen. This way the stand becomes part of the area and from my experience deer don't notice me sitting in it when hunting season comes since they are used to it being there. When I hunt public land I just find a good place and take my stand in and out of the bush each day. I know some guys that just take the bottom climbing stick but I'm not rich enough to replace a stand if it gets stolen so I don't take the chance.
we follow the crops ,,so as the crops come off the stands go up ,,right now wheat and grain crops are coming off so all the stands that go in these areas are going up now ,soon some corn will come off for silage and we will hang stands in these areas then ,.some fields we can get on all year like potato fields we can drive around them all year as thy leave roads threw them for watering ,..so follow the crops that's how we do it ,,some stands just stay up all year .most of are deer use the same paths from year to year but thy will change were thy feed with the rotation of crops ,being able to drive to put up stands is a huge plus ,,lolDutch
If you have to cut a shotting line the sooner the better.
Same here, I have few stands on private land that stay up all year, for public land I pack in a climber partly to prevent theft and partly to stay mobile and follow the deer as they respond to hunting pressure. Its surprising how quickly the deer respond to hunters.Quote:
