Anyone know if the sharpies are around Kap?
Grandpa used to talk about seeing them in the tops of the spruce trees near Moonbeam but I have never seen one.

I've never seen one up here.
They are very rare but are around, see the odd one on the north end of Manitoulin, which is about the farthest they range south
We shoot a couple around Cochrane almost every year.... except this year!
When you get passed Nipigon you will start getting in some.
Have shot several south of Hearst, so don't see why they wouldn't be around Kap. Look for them in more open areas like recent cuts and roads with wide grassy ditches.
sharptails are real leary birds, they don't sit to tight and will flush early, and yes they do prefer a more open field...
Just northwest of Thunder Bay you will see good numbers.
Usually find them in numbers in open areas like clear cuts in small flocks. They claim they do migrate to the tree line when the weather starts getting bad way up North. Good luck.
