Some would call it liberation! To all those who said they would leave the country if the Libs won......... have fun in your new country. Although those are the same folks who said they would leave the province if the Libs won provincially, and they are still here.
To be frank,
I've voted a lot in the past 20 years. This election is much different. I'm truly scared if Trudeau gets in. I've always voted Conservative, but if they don't get re-elected, I hate to admit, I'd rather see Mulcair get in than that no-brained twit.
I'll be happy when it is all over and people can stop telling me who I should vote for. Would be nice to see something new on the Facebook feed as well.
Scary thing is people all jump on the bandwagon to vote for a certain candidate without knowing why they are voting for them. Same goes for the "Harper Must Go" movement - most have no idea why he needs to go they just join the screaming and kicking of others.
In the end I hope people get out and exercise their democratic right and vote.
From "The Great Degeneration" by Niall Ferguson
"The welfare state is not part of democracy as the ancient Athenians conceived it. In bee terms, the welfare state seems to create an ever increasing number of dependant drones whom the worker-bees have to support. It also employs a great many bees simply to transfer resources from the workers to the drones. And it seeks to finance itself by accumulating claims on future bees, in the form of public debt"
The welfare state is unsustainable. A vote for anyone other than the Conservative party is a vote for the welfare state.
When I hear of the Liberals and their talk of a carbon tax I think of this.
From "Things that Matter" by Charles Krauthammer
"The playbook is well known. As Czech president (and economist) Vaclav Klaus once explained, environmentalism is the successor to failed scocialism as justifiation for the all-pervasive rule by a politburo of experts. Only now it acts in the name of not the proletariat but the planet"
I've got a real rock in my gut, turning my stomach. Pretty sure JT takes it with a minority.
At that point, all I could really hope for is that he actually does mouth off to Putin, who immediately mops the floor with him and exposes him for the panty waist he is... So we can elect an actual leader in 2-3 yrs.
I haven't lost all hope yet. I was in the UK this spring when they had their federal election. According to the polls and the media the leading up to the election the conservatives were on their way out no way they could win. In the end common sense prevailed and they ended up with a conservative majority. They suffer from the same left leaning liberal media that we do.
Not sure if in my life, there's been an election more important than this one.
It's not tomorrow that "scares" me, it's where we will be in 2-4years if the Liberals win a minority. Harper for all his faults, hasn't gutted us. JT is an imbecile, less grey matter the McGuinty, when you look at who is on his "team".
/shiver
Then look at the direction ALTA is heading and the state of Ontario where so many are being pummeled by Hydro and taxes.
There's a part of me that suspects quite strongly, those who vote for JT because they are tired or hate Harper. Will in a year or two be a lot like those who have voted for the Provincial Liberals here.
Silent and embarrassed
There has been, and always will be the silent conservative vote. The ones that play their cards close, and generally let their votes speak for them.
It's my sincerest hope that most of JTs supporters are the vocal ones, and there are very few silent ones.
The anyone but Harper movement seems to be filled with dullards, and idiots who are very easily manipulated by propaganda. I've even had a member of family confess that although he doesn't like Harper, he's voting conservative.....
