Drag rag for deer

Don't know how many hunters, use a drag rag. I watched a video a long time ago , where a hunter, going to his stand , crossed several deer runways, Had a rag soaked in doe in heat scent tied to his boot with a shoe lace. I do this and have had a lot of bucks, come in with their nose to the ground and usually not paying attention. When you get to where you are going to watch. Hang the rag in a tree or bush, upwind , so the rag will cover your scent. I carry a small glass jar to keep the rag in when you are not using it. It worked again today, a nice 8 point. It's all synthetic now. Still used the same way.

An old mentor taught me the 'Drag' method years ago, I've used it every time I hunt since.

I don't just use doe estrus, I also use Fox urine as a cover scent to mask my smell as I walk into my stand post rut.

I know it works, I've seen it work...a Drag is a must have addition to your hunting kit !!

What brand is the favourite, are they all the same or do so guys have favourite brand(make)?

I am using tinks 69X synthetic doe in heat. You can get it at cabelas or bass pro. I get a big bottle or two every year. Also if you are using it on a rag, keep putting more on as you walk. can also be used at a scrape site. I cut short 2 by 2 cedar blocks , drill a half inch hole in the bottom and a 1/8 hole near the top. So you can put a fine wire through. Pack the big hole with paper towel leave a little sticking out. soak the hole with scent, put more on regularly. You now have a poor man's dripper. They can stay in the tree all year if you like, they will weather, and not be very visable, to others. I used to use buck stop doe in heat , the real stuff , till they took it off the market.
