My hunt.

This year I kept the camp to just me and my dog CharlieAttachment 31527.
Ii did some baiting with 1000lbs of corn in the timed feeder and 1000lbs of carrots scattered around the feeder. About 120 dollars.Attachment 31528

I hunted but 1 day each of the first 2 weeks holding out for better weather and not messing things up. ML is my new favorite hunt in wmu 60 so I was really gearing up for that. At the camp Sunday night and ready to roll.

First day I sit 300 yards off the feeder and give off a big shot of Buck Bomb doe in estrus and in just over a hour out comes a healthy looking 8 point buck. He jumped up and did a 180 and was visible agitated. I practice good scent control including liberal (wasteful) amounts of scent killer. Not sure if it was me or the buck bomb. He settled down and posed nicely for a side shot and down he went in less then 20 yards. I was using 200gr cheapies. The bullet bounced around and did not exit. It was a heart shot but did nicked the top of the stomach but no mess. A lot of work hauling him out by yourself but it was well worth it. Great hunt albeit very short as I am already back home.

Good for you. Pretty satisfying tackling that task on your own of hauling a healthy buck like that.

I was up in 60 this past weekend. They were moving around but didn't see what I was looking for.

How did you find the deer liked the carrots? Have always thought about trying them if I ever run out of a connection for apples.
