Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, and I need some help. I am currently being investigated and assume will be charged due to an incident that occurred about a week ago. I was deer hunting on property I was permitted to hunt on. I called in a small buck and using a crossbow, shot an arrow into his front shoulder as he was directly facing me. Not an ideal shot, I realize, but it was lethal. To make a long story short, the deer ran into the adjacent vacant lot (50 ft) away and died. I was then reported to the adjacent landowner by a "fellow" hunter who didn't want me hunting in his general area. The MNR came and I showed them exactly what happened, and was 100 percent cooperative. I honestly did not think it was a big deal. I didn't hide anything, as in my mind there was nothing wrong. Unbelievably, the canines were brought in and DNA samples were also collected (an amazing waste of government resources). I was then told I was not telling the truth, as the dogs are always right. I explained to the CO that sometimes when a deer is hit, especially the way I hit this deer, that they sometimes do not bleed for some distance. This wasn't possible in his opinion. So they took my deer, and now I am awaiting a court trial and it looks like a bunch of charges as they don't believe me. Frustrating to say the least. If any of you could share times you have not found any blood on a lethal shot, or, if you have had experience with this type of nonsense. Any advice or experience you could provide would help me defend myself. I am going to fight this to the bitter end. Thirty years of hunting and never even a warning! Thanks!
