Sudbury area success??

Another season is over! No deer for us! Any success in the Sudbury area?
Manitoulin was a good run! No deer in our WMU42 for us!

Our group is used to seeing many deer in the farm fields around Noelville. But we have been noticing a steady decrease in the past 4 years. Not sure why. My father in law had luck on the island with his group. At least I'll get a couple steaks. I think I'm going to start bear hunting to fill the freezer.

our group hunted in 42 back in nov for the gun hunt. 8 guys up for 2 weeks ended up with two spike bucks and a decent 8pt.

I suggest it has something to do with the MNR's near 100% doe tag issuance rate.

Huh? WMU 42 issues approx. 500 doe tags for 2000 plus applicants.

I suspects the drop in deer population is due to two factors. 1) two severe winters and 2) an increase in the coyote population which limits the numbers of fawns that make through the first year.

We have been seeing between 6 and 15 deer each season up to 2013. 2014 we saw 2, and only 3, possibly 4, depending on if I put the same one up in the same area on the same day.

I am going to try doing some coyote control this winter.

I have a camp in the Alban area. Had a real nice buck and two does come to within 25 yards of my stand. One of the does busted me and I couldn't get off a shot.

The weather was awful this year, too warm at times. I hunted hard for 10 days and only saw the three deer. There is always next year!

That yote control me and You do don't mean diddly till the MNR (HAR HAR) does a blanket sweep like doping like they do for rabbies or better yet a bounty, but. With a gov in dire straights I think we are as the nut said to his date "screwed"

We hunt the bush just north of Noelville. We saw two last year - no sign of any fawns. Saw a doe with twins this summer. We got lucky with an 8 and a 10 this year.. only deer we saw. Decent amount of sign in the bush (not many rubs or scrapes though) but they are hard deer to hunt. Bush is thick, and broken. And they don't pattern at all.. go where they want, whenever. You just pick a good vantage point or a funnel and hope for the best.
