A dog was shot and killed by three people in the town of East Gwillimbury, a town directly north of Toronto just south of Lake Simcoe, police say.
York Regional Police have arrested one woman and are looking for three other women after a man's houseboat was broken into and his dog was shot and later died. The dog was named Lowkey, and was a male St. Bernard.
The shooting on Oct. 25 is said to be connected to a confrontation earlier in the day.
That afternoon, according to police, the man said he tied up his dog outside a convenience store. When he returned to get his dog, he was allegedly confronted by two women who said the animal bit one of them. One of the women said she knew where the man lived and threatened to shoot the dog in retaliation, police said.
The man returned to his houseboat, where he and his dog live, and left again without his dog. After he left, a security video released by police shows three people on all-terrain vehicles riding up to the houseboat. Later when the man returned home, he found his boat had been broken into and his dog shot.
Jessica Walker, 26, of Thornhill was arrested and charged with uttering a threat to kill an animal.
