Backpacking Rod & Reel Set

Hey all,

I do a yearly backpacking trip with a couple of buddies, we've been doing it for 10+ years.
We usually take an extended long weekend over a long weekend and spend 3-4 nights in the backcountry.
We've done the Algonquin trails each more than once. Have been to the Catskills in upstate NY and have also done the LaCloche Silhouette trail in Killarney (2nd time will be this year).

I'm looking for advice on a rod and reel to take along with me. I'd like it to be light (but don't want to break the bank - would like to keep it under $100) and definitely would like something as compact and durable as possible.
I was looking into telescopic rods because of their compactness.
It would be great to be able to keep the rod and reel together with line and swivel snap on it so I'd have the ability to quickly throw on a spinner or something when we stopped for a bite or to fill up water, etc... to take some casts with

I was looking recently at the THKFISH telescoping rod which seems to be good budget-wise with decent enough reviews.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

I use an ice fishing rod when canoe camping, they are tough and small enough to pack in without snagging on branches etc.

Years ago my wife bought me one of these. ( Back then it came in a nice padded nylon bag). I've used mine tons, and it doesn't take up much room.

I travel with three pack rods (one is a telescopic) when I fly to Cape Breton or when hiking in northern Ontario. My favorite is the telescopic Shimano Exage. It's a light 8 foot rod that I can keep the reel on and line hooked up ready to fish.Attachment 32156 Hard to see in the photo, but the rod is already rigged up with a snap swivel and set to go. Just loosen off the drag and pull it our to eight feet. :)

I've only used it once, while on vacation in Cuba. Managed a few small fish from in the surf.
The case is nice, although you do have to take the reel off to close it properly. You can fit a few smaller things inside the case with the rod, like an Altoids container etc. for tackle.

best i have seen thus far is the okuma pack rods.
keep in mind they are salt water rated (i take them to the caribbean with me).

another one for the telescopic Shimano Exage stc.
Have a few small tele rods; last time I checked, the model I have was no longer available (they pack longer now). mine is a 3 piece rod (with one being telescopic); 9' rod for shore fishing and it came in a 12" case that leaves room for some tackle (if you put a small reel with braid on).

Well I ended up using Aliexpress and searched around for one that was light, appeared to be well made and has a relatively short packed length. I also got a reel from another Aliexpress distributor for which the reel has some pretty decent reviews. I'll update with a small review upon receipt and following a couple of field uses...
