Trolling motor battery
Just bought a group 31 everstart deep cycle from wally world for my 55# stern troller. Now I read everything from Best bang for buck going to Total trash. Anyone with experience chime in? Preferably current experience as I find with anything like that time changes things very fast. THANKS

I had one on my old boat which I sold 2 yrs ago. It was a 27 series and worked fine for my 55 terrova. As far as i know, its still in service.

not a fan of the everstarts anymore myself. was using them in the pst but i may have gotten a bad batch. all crapped out on me in same year (1st year) at different times. didnt bother with replacement from walmart. for smaller batteries the costco batteries are great. wish they made a size 31. in the mean time the nautilus is decent.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. It all depends on how you use them. I killed a costco grp 27 in 2 seasons. I troll on my xi5 for hours on end and often run the battery until dead. That sort of abuse will take it's toll. My starting battery is a walmart, and so is my spare grp 24. Both do the job well.

Am shopping for a new TM- likely a 55 pound bow mount. How do you like your MG xi5 so far? Would you recommend them over a MK Terrova? Thanks!

Cheap Batteries like Everstart work great to 'Start' the lawn tractor, etc. Used and then recharged via usage.
Where they are weak is when the battery is in use as a 12v pwr source, taken almost to full discharge before they are recharged again. They don't seem to last as long as a more expensive battery.

anyone try the lithium ion batteries? expensive but are they worth it?

When it comes to batteries, there is no one size fits all. A battery needs to be matched to the application. A starting battery is designed to undergo a slight discharge and then be immediately recharged, a deep cycle is designed to be drawn down to about 30% and then charged using a different charge profile. Of course, there is also the AGM battery which requires a completely different charge profile.
If you take the absolute best battery and use it for a different application, life and performance will be shortened. Match the battery to your needs, and match the charger to your battery for the best life and performance.
STAY AWAY FROM MULTI FUNCTION BATTERIES!
Just my thoughts, I could be wrong. (DM)
