Draining a wet spot on my property...

Hey folks,

Got a patch that always seems wet and holds water even several days after rain and sun. It's a low spot on the property... Want to drain it. There is an existing drain hole in the grass that was installed by previous owners that seems a bit clogged now but still seems to drain water when i pour into it. If I add a perforated drain pipe from the wet spot to the hole, I think I can solve or at least help the problem. Home Depot sell the 10' x 4" perforated plastic drain pipe. Should I simply dig a trench, bury the drain from the wet spot to the hole, or is it more complicated? Should I lay some gravel along the trench? Any other suggestions?

Dig a trench on a grade the way you want it, preferably, line the bottom with gravel, lay weeping tile with a sock on it in trench to your hole and cover with gravel, top with soil.

wrap the perforated pipe in landscape fabric so it won't quickly fill up with soil.

Or do what TO says but, lay the landscape fabric down before putting in the gravel,pipe,then more gravel and fold the fabric back around everything before covering back up with soil.
