planer board set up
Looking to go to Quebec fishing for a week fishing and was going to try planerboards to get close to shore. What I was wondering if any one had pointers on setup.
Line size distance out and back or anything that will help smooth the learning curve.
Thanx Joe

We use in-line planer boards, they will get the line about 50 feet away from the boat easily, you can run your bait as far back from the board as you want. You will need to remove them to reel the line in as they attach to the line itself.

This time of year the Walleye are not deep.
Depending on the lure, I would run close to the planer board with either a worm harness, a Hot-n-Tot or a small 3" rapala about 15 feet behind the board.
Your best bet might to be to just cast a float and a leech close to shore .

Hey Rhybak it's Joe.I was on the kipawa forum as well but thought if the fish are close to shore a planer board may keep me out of the "danger Zone " of rocks.
