Just returned from Algonquin. This year we decided to explore the North River. We set up camp on an island in North Depot Lake. We had the entire island and nearly the entire lake to ourselves for 11 days. We fished the river for brookies during day and trolled the lake points in the evening for lakers.

I have my own Sports pal but you can only pack for maybe one or two days, So we rent a cargo canoe. This is 17 1/2' Winisk. Best most stable boat I ever paddled. capacity of more than 600lbs fully loaded with only 4" waterboard tracked like a dream even in moderate wind.

Only problem with 17 1/2' canoe is passing items back and forth. We revised a system of passing items back and forth on the ends of our paddles.
