Just seen a video on another site about thieves breaking into houses through the garage door. Man was I surprised how easy it was. In 6 seconds they are in. A simple fix with a small zip tie will help protect you. I have never linked a YouTube video so not sure if it will work if not search " 6 second garage door break in" and it's all over the net. I would never have thought about this if I didn't happen to see it:scream:

The link works fine. It's amazing what a simple zip tie can be used for.
Whenever we leave the house overnight I always trip the carrier for the garage door opener, so it won't open if the signal is sent, and I use a cable tie to secure one of the rollers in the track. Come home, flip the carrier tab back on, and side cutter the zip tie off.....peace of mind for a couple of cents.

another tip is not to leave the garage remote in the car when your home. All it takes is to break your car window and gain access to your garage and home with the remote.
I drilled a hole in each track and insert a padlock..when out and about i just leave them hanging but if we are away for an extended period of time I close both locks and keys are in safe! Furthermore...if anyone did get in, Buster Thee Beagle will take a few nice chunks of meat out of them so we will have DNA! Go ahead and try!
I find that using the deadbolt on the door to the garage keeps people out of the house to.

When my parents house was broken into last fall the theives broke in threw the garage door and pulled their vehicle inside and loaded up. We still figure it's someone that knows the family as we were away at my grand father's funeral. I would of loved to come home and catch them in the act. I'd likely be in jail for multiple murders though.
When I still had a garage, the opener was busted, so I removed it, but the locking handle didn't work either. I just put a c-clamp in the track and tightened it down. The only way to open that door was to pull it off of the garage, frame and all.Quote:
