1st time Fishing Balsam Lake Tmrw. Any advice??

I'm meeting a friend tomorrow at 5am to fish Balsam for the day. multi species. He's been up there all week and hasnt had much success.

Any advice on locations or what to throw??

This Lake is new to both of us so any help at all would be appreciated.

On the west side in the bay near the park the notrh end has muskies, in line bucktails and chartreuse spinner baits. Fish for them in the sunken weeds. Largemouth you can find in the weedy bays on the west side and the east side of the point. All the regular largemouth tackle works. For smallmouth, hit the rocky shorelines, crankbaits, drop shot rigs and tube jigs work good. Also, trolling a worm harness along the rocky shorelines for smallies. Never really fished for walleye on the lake or the south end, only the north end in both west and east bays. Good luck

great advice, i will check those areas out. thanks alot!

i fished it once for a weekend, ended with a few smallies a largemouth and a walleye all caught near the provincial park. i dont really have any fishing advice, but watch out for water skiers and wake boarders. they drive boats worth as much as my house, but dont seem to watch out for fishermen in canoes, almost got swamped a few times by different people.
good luck, its a nice lake with different species in it, we just couldn't get it dialed in in the short time we were there.

Check the regs, as they are different than the lakes around Balsam.

I hear you on the ski boats. Whatever happened to nice little quiet cottages where people spend weekends. I do the tour from Graventhurst to Perry Sound a lot and the "cottages" have boat houses bigger then my own home with multiple ski boats and jet ski's in them. Makes me scratch my head. But whatever turns their crank I guess.

Muskoka shouldnt be considered normal.

Fishing everywhere is hurting this year. From the river I live on to Belmont lake to Temiskaming. Something is a foot.
