Marten River
Hey folks. Heading up to Marten River Lodge this Thursday to Saturday. Have fished a few lakes in nearby Temagami but never been here. Any tips on the area / fall fish habits / tactics would be appreciated. Open-minded as to target species, expecting smallmouth, pike, walleye in particular.
Thanks in advance

So if you are fishing marten river and lake you have walleye, smallmouth bass, lake trout ( out of season now ) whitefish, with a few pike and perch. Walleye are getting tougher each year to catch and there is not a huge pike and perch population. Whitefish can be good in the fall if you can find where they are spawning. Some big smallmouth bass and lots of numbers. If you have a boat and can travel I would recommend going to wicksteed lake if you are looking for good walleye fishing and great bass fishing. Wicksteed is a good size lake. It is within 10 km of your lodge. Also Rabbit lake has very good walleye fishing with good whitefish fishing. Lots of lake trout with some huge ones but they are out of season. Of course lots of Bass. Rabbit lake is also a good size lake. If you are looking to fish some small back lakes ust pm me and I will send you some info. The back lakes have walleye, whitefish, bass, the odd pike. There are also some back lakes that have specs and lake trout in them and are opened year round. The late fall fishing in some of these lake can be very good. They are all stocked yearly and have been stocked continuous for the last 30 years I have been fishing the Temagami area. Also have a couple rainbow lakes that are open but they can be tough. Only advice I can give you is do not waste your time fishing lake Temagami. Also mention if you like night fishing burbot fishing can be good in most lakes.
