Moultrie Cam Setups

Wondering how everyone sets up their cams? I've had a new set of moultries (880i) for a couple months now and find that i'm missing a lot of shots.

I have a pile of corn which is being hit by deer and has tracks all around, even a nice size track which to me looks like a moose.

When I check the camera no pics of animals just random shots of empty fields and of me setting up and going to check.

Also, when the DLY countdown is running i see on the far left a days counter but most of the time it says either 2 days or 4. Only when i use the "Quick" setup does it show 14 days.

Hate seeing signs but not shots.....

Any help would be great. I've only heard good things about moultries but so far havn't had much success.

Thought I'd add the pic of the print. Was about 3"-4" long and 2" to 2.5" wide. This is up in the Kawarthas so it could really be anything.

Can't help you so much with the cam setup but the track is a deer track. Tracks always look way bigger in the mud, but that's probably a nice-sized buck's track.

I picked up some 880i's last year and I know what your saying. I was siting in the pop-up, watched deer at the bait pile and yet the camera didn't capture them.

I haven't played with the 'sensitivity' setting yet to find what works best. I was wondering if the warm weather we have been having is affecting the IR triggers. May need cold weather to figure out why it's not capturing every visitor to the bait pile.

I notice sometime it is very slow coming out from the 'sleep mode' and is why your probably seeing empty frames, the deer passed triggered it and then kept on moving and the camera 'snapped' the pic long after.

I had the same problem with a Spypoint a few years back. Someone stole it and I wasn't to upset :)

Now that you mention the temperature i wonder if that is what is happening. Most are out in what I would call direct sun, ie no canopy above, whereas I have one in the thick stuff.

Get tons of great shots in the bush but it's the ones in fields that I have the hardest time with.

Want to make sure they are set up properly before winter so I can have them out for a long time. Would hate to go in March and realize something wasn't set up or working properly.

I bought some wild game innovations camera's and have had good luck with them. If anything they take too many pictures. I do get a lot of wind movement pictures, but I just have to trim the branches of the trees and that should stop that.
