Bought a couple of these and can't get them to work in the fixture, anybody else had experience with these ?
the fixture is a cheap 2 bulb hanging unit, bulbs are Philips .....and say that they are to be used with electronic instant-start ballasts....so are instant start ballasts only in higher end fixtures ?
i was fiddling with it and for a second it lit up but I can't get it to happen again,
Maybe something blew?
Don't think so as the fluorescents still work fine ....and I couldn't get the other LED bulb to light at all
This is only a guess. Is the original fixture designed for T8 Lamps? The new LED's might not work if it has a T12 ballast.

What is the voltage of the new LED bulb?
The LED retrofit bulbs we use at work require a 24v output ballast.

They're between $20-$30 at most hardware retailers.
you need special ballasts to run the LED bulbs, check out your local electrical place for them. pretty sure they are called electronic ballasts and should say right on them rated to T 8 bulbs.

Sounds like the LED's don't work in the cheap $20 hanging fixtures...something to keep in mind - better to buy the complete fixture with the LED bulbs included I've seen them on sale for $40
