So I had a weak moment and it called out to me. It was a purchase I had no intention of making. Non the less I ended up with a nice rifle.
My question is what bullet weight and type would be optimal for this calibre? It will be used primarily for deer. Where I'll be using it, there is a potential to shoot out to 400yrds easily. Currently I'm confident to 300yds with my 6.5x55 but am looking to see how I do at 400.
First I have to see what this 270wsm likes.
A lot of .270 bullets are designed for standard velocities. The WSM will strain them especially inside 200 yds. I would use a premium bullet designed for mag velocities. Barnes, GMX that type of thing. Your twist will tell you what weight. You do have the "bug" pretty bad don't ya......

I would try 140 grain Accubonds for deer. They seem to shoot well in most rifles.
Sweet rifle for sure and as others have said stick with a quality bullet that the rifle likes and you should be fine. And no. There is no cure for " THE BUG".
What Species said. Also a 130 Barnes TSX or a Swift Scirocco II. Nosler partition. For deer I would stick with 130's or 140's and settle on the most accurate combo.Quote:
