I'm sorry but having read the action plan it sounds good to me. How would you like it to be changed?
Anyone who hangs out in the bush is aware of the dangers of the deer tick to themselves and their dog. Ticks have been around forever and can't be totally "fixed". This is why we use a monthly pesticide on our dog and check ourselves over thoroughly.

( Not all deer ticks carry the lyme disease .)

$$ to better train highly paid Drs so they stop misdiagnosing it
$$ to get our testing up to speed. Its faulty and way behind the States. You heard the young girl?
$$ so that those afflicted dont have to raise tens of thousands on "gofundme" for better treatment in the US and so they dont end up in wheel chairs

Figure thats enough to start considering how high we are taxed, how much we brag about our healthcare ( and make fun of the US).

Imo, there is not one possible justification for what that young girl has had to endure, the financial hardship on her and her family (things are hard enough) given things.

Funny we have billions for people crossing the border illegally but her and others like her.....
And its spreading, rapidly.

I know someone who lives with Lyme. He's had it for about 20 years, but was misdiagnosed all that time. He's had to go for tests and treatments in the US. Though some people argue otherwise, diagnosis in Ontario is lacking.

Diagnosis has always been state of the art in Ontario.

There are no “secret” “hidden” tests available only in California or Germany.

There are no secret malicious societies suppressing the truth to prevent Canadian doctors from making a diagnosis.
It is paranoid thinking from a vocal group of “Lyme wannabes” who can’t or won’t admit that their non-specific symptoms are due to everyday stresses or unwilling to accept a mental health diagnosis.

I’ve made numerous diagnoses of Lyme in the last 25 years and successfully treated all in both early and late stages. Lyme is a fascinating disease that happens all across Ontario except maybe in the far north. Take note of that before you flame me for a non-believer.

Do the “wannabes” really think the entire medical profession is brainwashed into some sort of diagnostic nihilism for this one disease? That’s ridiculous.

What’s really the issue is that Western Medicine has very little to offer people who have all the symptoms that people call “chronic Lyme”.
Previously these same symptoms were called “Chronic fatigue syndrome”, “Neurasthenia”, “Chronic Epstein Barr”,”fibrositis”, “myalgic encephalomyelitis”.

I do not deny the real suffering these folks feel. They have genuine disabling symptoms that are not easily explained or treated by Western Medicine.

Dishonest or misguided charlatans willing to treat these false diagnoses have been all too common in the history of medicine.

I suppose the Government of Canada having to spend two year developing an "action plan" thats long on words and short on action ( kinda like "Bear wise"_ doesn't support they are self admittedly way behind. Ditto the government of Ontario.https://www.ontario.ca/page/lyme-disease

And that they both prominently have "for heath professionals" featured, doesn't suggest they aren't trained to properly recognize and part of the "problem". You might be Johnny and good for for being up to speed.

There may be hypochondriacs out there convinced it's Lyme ( wouldn't be the first time), there may be hacks out there willing to entertain them to.....Neither changes the fact we are behind the curve (spread of ticks and Lyme). Every year the media will publish a handful of articles warning the public ( that to doesn't suggest we are way behind)....

And that for those that do get it,
Not 1 possible justification given how much we brag about healthcare here, how much we are taxed, look down our noses at the US, that citizens have to endure financial hardship, on top of the medical hardship, raise money on gofundme to go to the US,.....as just this one girl has.

Speaking as someone who had to endure two botched biopsies and 16 months before a ticking time bomb in my head was properly dealt with.....where in San Deigo its dealt with in weeks.

Ottawa and Toronto doctors that my friends have visited for over 8 years didn't seem to think so.

My co-worker who endured something similar to what I went through, except where they botched the biopsies and failed to diagnose something that is very bad in my head ( and luckily for me it didn't go boom during the 16 months), in his case, he was diagnosed as terminal, given two years to live. After a number of months he decided to fly to the Mayo clinic ( at his own personal expense). Within days he got the "good news", nothing seriously wrong at all.....the cause for it all.

Not so "state of the art" equipment/testing here.
The hospital ( I won't name which one but its a big one..aka very famous in Toronto) offered him a lot of money to settle out of court. On the advice of his lawyer who forced him to settle for money (he didn't want any), he settled for 1 penny, with the stipulation the difference be used to buy "state of the art"...

A friends daughter has been misdiagnosed by at least 5 doctors for about 6 years in Ontario mainly in Toronto, was told she was psychotic to having Fibromyalgia and many other illness,s in between.
At their own expense upon hearing of a Doctor in Switzerland, she was there diagnosed as definitely having Lyme Disease , they started treatments there and after 5 weeks they have returned to Canada where she is being treated by a recommended Doctor here.
The biggest problem here in Canada is that the blood tests done here for Lyme Disease, do not confirm it , they all come back negative, If you want surfire test results, you have to at your own expense , send your blood samples to laboratories in the U.S. most of the time the tests come back as POSITIVE for Lyme.

For those that like to read and want more information, there is a book titled "Ending Denial , The Lyme Disease Epidemic, A Canadian Public Health Disaster.
In one part of it, there is a Chapter by Dr. Jozef Krop, MD, FAAEM, what he went through, trying to convince The College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Canadian Gov. that there is definitely a big problem here in On. with Lyme Disease, his offices were raided , all his records seized and on.
A lady in Ontario [a well known Golden Retriever Breeder ] tells her own story about how Dr. Krop cured her of Lyme Disease after many years of suffering and misdiagnosis by other doctors.

Really, do you have a family member suffering from this? I do, took many visits to different "specialists" that didn't have a clue.
