Smelts Are Running

Had a great time Sunday night smelt fishing on Georgian Bay.
Parry Sound area at a stream flowing into the bay.
It was about midnight when we arrived and they were already there.
Kept half a pail of smelts which was plenty as it does take a bit of time to clean them.
Tonight is the fish fry.

Dad always made the kids clean them...

I have great memories of smelt fishing on the beach at Port Stanley. Bonfires and fun.:)

We had spots between Scarborough and Newcastle during the late 50's -60's. Could see the fires for miles..
